Barry Dennis - Senior Vice President
Barry joined the Institution in the early seventies and has worked in the Waste Management Industry since 1964.
He joined the Deards group of companies when he left school and progressed to the main board and was responsible for the subsidiary involved in waste management. He has been involved in all aspects of the industry from operating landfills and incinerators to a large vehicle fleet involved in waste collection for both the public and private sectors.
He is a director and trustee of Wamitab and is also its treasurer. He also holds other directorships of companies involved in the waste and recycling sector.
In his spare time he played senior amateur soccer and represented the FA English Schools, he is a keen golfer and a playing member of the MCC. He is married to Jan and they have 2 sons. Barry also has 3 daughters and four grandchildren.
He is now Deputy Chief Executive of the Environmental Services Association (ESA), which is the trade body that represents the waste management, recycling and secondary resources industry here in the UK.
He has been a General councilor for many years and is Chairman of the Finance committee. He has been Chairman of the London and Southern Counties centre. He is also a director of IWM Business Services.
He worked very closely with Government in the late 60's helping write legislation controlling the skip hire industry. This now appears in the Highways Act.
